Normanby Hall Cricket Club
Match reports for weekend beginning 15/07/17;

After a hammering last week against Saltburn the first team travelled to Whitby and found themselves bowling despite losing the toss on a wicket that looked bowler friendly.

Missing Dom Leech due to injury the away side struggled with the new ball and the wet outfield didn't help.

Despite 3 wickets a piece for Aamir Samaai and Ashley Vaughan, Whitby posted 218 from their 50 overs which looked like a very good score at the tea interval.

Amr Karim set about the chase in attacking fashion and got a quickfire 48 at quicker than a run a ball but the loss of early wickets slowed Normanby's momentum.

Henry Blackett found a return to form and put on a 90 run partnership with captain Jordan Leech to help Normanby get to 151-3 from 40 overs.

When Jordan fell for 42 and Henry was run out on 61 it set up a tight finish with Normanby needing 30 from 28 balls.

Dan Laverick chipped in down the order in only his second first team game but it was overseas player Aamir Samaai who was the hero as he smashed 21 from 9 balls including a six out the ground in the last over to win the game for Normanby!

A very pleasing comeback result for the young side who are still in the hunt for promotion going into the latter stages of the season.

The second team entertained Rockliffe Park at Cricket Lane and posted 140 from their 50 overs, veterans Mark Lane and Lee Sykes both in the runs.

Unfortunately Rockliffe who are top of the league managed to get over the line and win by 8 wickets.

The third team played Marton on Sunday, 12 year old Abdaar Ishaq took 3 wickets as Marton posted 195.

Rash Rashid top scored with 88 to see the home side to victory in the last over.

This week see's the seconds play a fifteens game at home on Thursday night and the first team entertain Darlington RA on Saturday.
